FAQ

Here's a list of commonly asked questions about the Ontario Tourism Marketing Partnership (OTMPC) Corporation's website for industry partners. Please browse through the list below to find answers to your questions.

What am I signing up for when I "register"?
When you register as a user of this site, you not only identify yourself as an individual, you must also identify your tourism business. If you are the first user to register for your tourism business, you will be prompted to enter detail about your tourism business. If your organization has already been registered, you need only identify your organization.

To register, click on "Register Now" on the right-hand menu bar.

What do you mean by "organization"?
You can think of the "organization" information as the private information we require in order to manage your public listing and contact you if necessary. For every listing we make available to consumers via our public site, www.ontariotravel.net, we need a name, phone number, and mailing address of one person whom we can contact should we need clarification on any of the information.

An "organization" should be a meaningful business unit, but need not be a legal entity. For example, a resort that operates both a hotel and a golf course may choose to register the golf course and hotel as separate organizations, with separate listings and contact people.

One organization may have one listing for their business and one listing for each event the organization hosts.

To register your organization, click on "Register Now" on the right-hand menu bar.

What is a "listing" and where does it appear?
A listing is a record of your tourism business that we make available to consumers via our public website, www.ontariotravel.net, and our call centre, 1-800-ONTARIO. To create a listing, you must first register your organization and set up an account on this site. The basic listing is free, and consists of your business name, location, mailing address, email address, website URL, and phone numbers. For an incremental fee, you can enhance your listing with a 150-word description and graphics. Each account may have one listing.

Once you have registered and logged in using your "partner organization administrator" user name and password, click on "Manage Organization" on the right-hand menu bar, then click on "Create or Update External Listing".

What is an "Event" and where does it appear?
An "event" is a function your tourism business will be organizing that has a definite start date, end date, and is located in Ontario. One organization may record many events. For example, a theatre may have one listing for the theatre as a business, and one event record for each play. Like listings, events are submitted on this site and published on our public website, www.ontariotravel.net, and our call centre, 1-800-ONTARIO.

Once you have registered and logged in using your "partner organization administrator" user name and password, click on "Manage Organization" on the right-hand menu bar, then click on "Manage Events."

What is an "Opportunity"?
OTMPC organizes several marketing initiatives every year. To learn more about the marketing initiatives we have available and how to apply to participate in one, click on "opportunities" from the top menu bar.

You do not have to login to read about events. You do have to login to apply for one.

As you see in our top menu bar, we serve four types of tourism business:

  • Tourism Operators sell tourism services directly to consumers. Tourism operators may apply for "partner opportunities" and publish listings for their businesses and events.
  • The Travel Trade retails tourism services to tourism consumers.
  • The Media publishes articles about travel and tourism.
  • Research organizations study travel and tourism. Research organizations may publish their research on this website.
What are "board and committees"?
OTMPC is governed by a board and has established a number of committees. You can learn more about OTMPC board and committees by clicking on "About OTMPC" in the top menu bar.

The board and each committee has a "private workspace" on this website that may be accessed by clicking on "Board & Committees" on the top menu bar. You will only be able to access the "private workspace" if the OTMPC system administrator has identified your userid as a board or committee member.

If you are a Board or Committee member and are not currently logged in to the site, please log in now to gain access to additional information only for OTMPC Board and committee members.
