Media Relations

Ontario offers many amazing destinations, attractions and experiences. OTMPC's Media Relations team assists travel media writers, photographers and videographers with their stories. We can assist in providing editorial content, contacts, media tours, customized itineraries, images and broadcast quality video. OTMPC welcomes the opportunity to work with media through our brand strategy to generate positive editorial coverage that will ultimately inspire consumers to travel to Ontario through a credible third-party endorsement. What’s new, trends and story ideas are shared with key consumer travel and lifestyle journalists in the format and language they require. OTMPC includes media relations coordinators for Canada, the United States, Europe (U.K., Germany and France), Asia (China, Japan, South Korea and India) and Latin America (Mexico and Brazil).

If you are a tourism partner, you can help support Ontario's media relations activities by:

  • Keeping OTMPC Media Relations team up to date on your product/experience, what’s new, story ideas, press releases, etc.
  • Supporting OTMPC media relations familiarization trips/event programs with on the ground support through itinerary development, in-kind support for attractions, accommodations, hospitality, etc.
  • Attending Destination Canada-led media marketplaces to boost Ontario presence at the shows, such as Go Media and  Canada Media Marketplace.  
  • Making presentations to OTMPC Media Relations team/OTMPC staff on your product/experience.

 

Media Relations Activities

OTMPC’s Media Relations team inspires and assists media influencers to generate positive editorial coverage that will ultimately inspire consumers to travel to Ontario. We pitch targeted story ideas to the media influencers and assist with hosting the media on customized and themed familiarization trips. We work with all media outlets including broadcast, print, radio, online and social.

We manage international media web sites that highlight ‘What’s New in Ontario’ and story ideas in their local language. 

In 2015-16, OTMPC hosted 537 broadcast, print, online and social influences, and generated $75.9 million in advertising value equivalency.

The OTMPC team usually engages directly with journalists and travel media at the following events:

Travel Media - Requests

If you wish to make a request (including for images and video), OTMPC will need the following details about you and your media outlet: your name; company affiliation; complete mailing address; telephone and email address; media type (print, broadcast, electronic); geographic market, audience size/circulation figure; demographics.

Our Media Relations team works with you and our industry partners to get you leads, arrange interviews, advise about relevant permits and make special arrangements. Most importantly, our team understands your deadlines and works efficiently to provide you specific, timely and accurate information.
